RAF Northolt Nightshoot XVIII held on the 5th March 2015
Once again organised by Phil Dawe, this Nightshoot, was number 18 in the series.
RAF Northolt had celebrated its 100th Anniversary two days prior to this event.
These very popular nightshoots are held to raise money for the restoration of the Northolt Battle of Britain Operations Room –
with over £100,000 having been raised to date in support of the RAF Northolt Heritage Fund.
Nightshoot XVIII had, once again, attracted some very unusual & rare visitors. The expected Apache was an unfortunate last minute cancellation,
getting a late tasking. The highlight of the evening though had to be the Sécurité Civile – Conair Turbo Firecat S-2F-T Turbo Tracker,
'07', F-ZBEY, which is based at Marseille Provence Airport. The aircraft carries a special scheme representing the 30 year anniversary of the Sécurité Civile!
Other visitors included a Sea King HAR.5, ZA166, operated by 771 Naval Air Squadron & based at RNAS Culdrose,
the aircraft making a very welcome appearance after cancellationsat the last few events, its attendance was a definite highlight.
Also from the Royal Navy at RNAS Culdrose was a BAe Hawk T.1, XX337, of 736 Naval Air Squadron, the aircraft was still wearing the
"Fly Navy 100" markings from the Naval Centenary in 2009.
A Belgian Federal Police Cessna 182Q, G-01, which is one of only two on strength with the Belgian Federal Police (Federale Politie) Air Support Unit
& based at Brussels-Melsbroek, the military part of Brussels Airport. An Irish Air Corps Pilatus PC-9M, 260, based at the Air Corps College of Number 1 Wing,
based at Baldonnel.
32 Squadron, RAF Northolt based BAe 146 CC2, ZE701, was also out on the pan together with HS125 CC3, ZD621. This was the last chance to see
an HS125 operated by 32 Squadron before the types retirement. In one of the hangars but still available for photography was BAe 146 C3, ZE707.
